The Mask of a Thousand Names

1352810012_Michael-Myers.gif

Michael Myers is the scariest of all cinematic horror villain/murderers namely for two reasons. 1. He's silent. Nothing scares that which is scare-able in us more than the vastness of silence. and 2. He doesn't die- and what allows his countless resurrections, or immortality of sorts, is unknowable. It's talked about as... he's animated by an evil so great it cannot die. But, we also witness that somewhere deep down, he is motivated by a skewed sense of protecting that which is most important to him. This is where we can relate to him, no? Motivated by what we feel to protect, however jaded or misaligned, justified or righteous; we'll fight to 'the death' to defend our position to avoid the undoing of our beliefs and positions. What keeps the mask in place? What's under the mask?

NOTE: This is the kind of post where the place in me that is scare-able, has a lot to say.
